The Brandeis University swimming and diving team has had a great season so far. For the past month and a half, they have been travelling and competing against teams from across the country and have shined as a team. Here is how their season has gone so far.
Professional basketball has raged on in the season, and each conference has had its share of action.
On Saturday, the season officially ended for the women’s soccer team, as the Judges were defeated by Farmingdale State College in the first round of the NCAA Division III tournament. With this close to their season, the 19th-ranked Judges achieved a season record 12–5, and the 25th-ranked Rams improved to 17–3–3 and went on to to play at the College of New Jersey on Sunday, according to the Brandeis Athletics website. Ultimately, the results of this game came down to one shot from the Rams and led to a score of 1–0 for the game that took place at the College of New Jersey.
This season, the men’s basketball team started the season on Nov. 3, playing the University of Saint Joseph. Although this game ended in a loss of 63–76 for the team, the Judges have a long season to come. The squad came back in the second game, conquering the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth with a score of 63–56. The Judges are 1–1 for the season so far.
AFC North: Despite a lot of drama surrounding two of the team’s biggest offensive stars, the Steelers are on top of the American Football Conference North Division and their offense has been nothing but potent. Despite Le'veon Bell holding out, rookie running back James Conner has been electric, and the offense hasn’t skipped a beat. Big Ben is playing with veteran prowess, and it's hard to look bad when you’re throwing to Antonio Brown and JuJu Smith-Schuster most of the time. The Baltimore Ravens and Cincinnati Bengals have shown promise, but both teams are riddled with inconsistency. While the Bengals currently hold the better record, the Ravens have a higher ceiling and would be a more dangerous team in the playoffs.
In their final game of the season, the Brandeis men’s soccer team played in a marathon in New York City. Taking on New York University, the Judges were deadlocked with the Violets for almost the entire game, with the Violets scoring the game winning goal with less than a minute left.The flow of this game was similar to the Judges season overall. For most of the game, the Judges were fighting to keep the score even but, at the last second, they came up short. For most of the Judges' season, the team hovered around .500, but a four-game losing streak doomed them in the end. Here is how the ultimate game of the season went for the Brandeis Judges.
With the season coming to a close, we look back on all the successes the Judges have had this past season. The women ended the season with an overall record of 12–4. The last game of the season was last Saturday Nov. 3 at New York University.
Wellesley Invitational
This weekend, the Judges played their last three games of the 2018 season. The women have had a pretty strong year, ending with an overall record of 13–17. The Judges have had their best season in the UAA in nearly a decade.

Tonight’s games mark the beginning of another season of college basketball. Even on the first day of the season, there are already some matchups with potential championship implications. At 7 p.m., the preseason top-ranked University of Kansas will take on Michigan State, who are ranked 10. Later, at 9:30 p.m., second-ranked University of Kentucky will take on No. 4 Duke University. Within just two hours of opening day, there will be two games featuring two hall of fame coaches going against each other. In that spirit, let’s take a look at some of the teams that are most likely to come out on top when the season concludes in early April.
With the regular season nearing its end, the women’s soccer team pushes on. The team has one game left in the season. Currently, the team has an overall score of 12–3. With the end of the season nearing, the Judges have had an amazing season. The first game of this week was scheduled for Tuesday Oct. 23, against Simmons College. However, the game was canceled.
With their season almost at its conclusion, the Brandeis men’s soccer team can now reflect on their season as a whole. As has been a recurring theme throughout the season, the team garnered high expectations after making it to the Division III Final Four just last year. However, with a 7-8-2 record and one game left to play, it is safe to say that those expectations have not been met. Still, though, the team has a lot to be proud of, and the season will be remembered for its high points and its low points. Unfortunately, one of the low points came last week — the team is currently riding a three-game losing streak.
The Judges continued their season this week with two games against non-University Athletic Association rivals Wellesley College and the University of Massachusetts-Boston. With the two losses that resulted from these matches, the Judges are now 11–16 overall for the season. Looking ahead, the Judges will play at the UAA tournament on Friday at the University of Rochester, where they will take on UAA rivals Emory University and Carnegie Mellon University. Brandeis is currently 0–7 in the UAA.
