March films not terrifying, just bad

"Cursed" - 2 starsDirected by Wes CravenStarring Christina Ricci, Joshua Jackson, Milo Ventimiglia, Judy Greer, Mya, Shannon ElizabethAfter running a tortuous gauntlet of recasting, reshooting, re-editing and finally-judging by last week's box office figures-rejection, Cursed should probably be dubbed the patron saint of movies with really unfortunate titles.

Movie round-up: Boogeyman, The Merchant of Venice, The Woodsman, The Assassination of Richard Nixon

The Merchant of Venice - Three starsDirected by Michael Radford Starring Al Pacino, Jeremy Irons, Joseph Fiennes and Lynn CollinsIn an effort to win the hand of the beautiful Portia (Lynn Collins), Bassanio (Joseph Fiennes, Enemy at the Gates) convinces his benefactor, Antonio (Jeremy Irons, Lolita) to borrow money from a Jew, Shylock (Al Pacino, The Devil's Advocate). The contract entitles Shylock to a pound of Antonio's flesh should he not repay the debt.

Movies have similar morals, but with different success

In Good Company - 2 starsDirected by Paul WeitzStarring Dennis Quaid, Topher Grace, Scarlett Johansson, Marg HelgenbergerIn Good Company holds particular appeal to college students: The movie highlights the importance of discovering individual and vocational passions, a topic especially relevant during these four years.
