Swinging for the fences

While most careers involve the mundane numbers-crunching and marketing presentations, there exist paths to careers in business that are by no means conventional. Andrew Kahn '03 pursued one of those unconventional routes to his business career after graduating from Brandeis. Kahn began his journey into capitalism with a detour "down under." A first team all-conference outfielder and winner of the Athletic Director's Award for outstanding athletic and academic performance on Brandeis' baseball team.

Fencing: Men and women head in opposite directions

Fencing may not be the most highlighted sport, but as sabreist Zoe Messinger '13 noted, there is only one sport where athletes get to "play with swords." Hosting the Eric Sollee Invitational last Saturday, the Brandeis fencing squads showed they were quite good at just that. The men grabbed the University Athletic Association crown, besting opponents such as Haverford College 18-9, Hunter College 25-2, UAA rival New York University 17-10 and Johns Hopkins University 14-1.

Fencing: Squads fail to stand out in their D1 meet

It turns out they're doing all right. The men's and women's squads each earned three victories at Saturday's Northeast Conference Meet at Boston College.

Women's Basketball: Women continue their struggles

One bad spell in a game can doom a team and write off any chance of victory. The women's basketball team learned this unfortunate lesson last weekend in the latest portion of its University Athletic Association schedule. Trailing 39-25 at halftime against the University of Chicago, the Judges could not find a rhythm in the second half, digging a hole that would eventually lead to a humbling 76-48 defeat. The loss?the second consecutive on the Judges' Midwest road trip, where they also faced Washington University in St.

Track and Field: Squads finish strong at home

It may have been just another race in the eyes of Chris Brown '12 and Taylor Dundas '14, but the one-mile race proved to be the main event for those on hand at the Reggie Poyau Invitational at home last Saturday. Though many runners set a scorching pace right from the opening gun, Brown and Dundas sat back at the outset of the race.
