USEM, UWS changes approved by faculty

Concerned that the existing first-year writing program is inadequate, the faculty senate gave unanimous approval to long-discussed reforms at its meeting last Thursday.Beginning in the 2007-2008 academic year, the University Seminar in Humanistic Inquiries+Writing option, which consists of a 3-hour-per-week USEM course and a weekly, hour-long writing session, will be eliminated.


Patrick brings state issues to campus

The grassroots campaign of Massachusetts Democratic gubernatorial hopeful Deval Patrick made a stop in Hassenfeld Conference Center Thursday evening, where the candidate addressed nearly 150 people.Patrick discussed numerous issues, including renewable energy, affordable universal healthcare and better funding for public education.


50 applicants see SAT errors

After the College Board recently acknowledged errors in grading 4,000 SAT tests, admissions was informed that 50 of those students had applied here, said Dean of Admissions Gil Villanueva.Villanueva reviewed each of the 50 applicants and determined that none of the decisions would be reversed, despite scoring errors.SAT scores are not all that admissions evaluates applicants by, Villanueva said.

Archbishop addresses dialogue
