Thomas L. Friedman '75, a Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist for The New York Times, will teach an economics course next semester with Prof. Chad Brown (ECON).The course, "Economics of Globalization," will be held Mondays from 2 to 5 p.m. in Gerstenzang 123.

"I am very much looking forward to teaching a course on globalization," Friedman wrote in an e-mail to the Justice. "I am really excited about having a chance to interact with Brandeis students."

Friedman will give four of the 13 lectures, one per month. The other lectures will be given by Prof. Bown. The course will focus on major themes in the globalization debate, such as sweatshops, child labor, off-shoring, environmental standards, intellectual property protection, cultural diversity, economic development and immigration, Senior Vice President for Communications Lorna Miles said.

Students must have received a C+ or higher in "Introduction to Economics" to enroll. The course satisfies lower-level elective requirements for the Economics and International Global Studies majors.
