Union may fund parties

As part of its ongoing efforts to improve campus social life, the Student Union is exploring reimbursing costs for registered private parties in residential suites, as long as the party remains safe, Union officials said."The Student Union finds it necessary to promote suite parties," Student Union President Alison Schwartzbaum'08 said in her State of the Union Address in December.


Union works to reform alcohol policy

In an effort to reshape the perceived inflexibility of the current policy and to reduce the high cost of having events with alcohol on campus, the Student Union is working with Student Events and the administration to draft a new alcohol policy.


Munchie Mobile caters to late-night snackers

It was a hungry college student's dream come true: A van filled with 90 pizzas and several packages of candy, all free of charge, arrived at residence halls last Friday night.The Munchie Mobile, an initiative by Student Events to provide late-night snacks on weekends, made six stops from East Quad to the Foster Mods between 11:30 p.m.


ICC renovations stalled over funding

The University has delayed renovations on the Intercultural Center until sufficient funding is secured for the project, a senior administrator said.The ICC and the Student Union submitted a proposal to the administration last May calling for a $105,000 renovation of the 15-year-old building.


Private writer's life revealed

Janna Malamud Smith, the daughter of the famous Jewish writer Bernard Malamud, said she only wrote a memoir of her father after wrestling with his privacy concerns.Even though her father, who died 20 years ago, always kept his personal life private, she decided to write a memoir of his life only after her mother and brother significantly changed the text.
