Brandeis hosts Mock Trial event

Last weekend the campus was filled with aspiring lawyers and witnesses for Brandeis' second annual Mock Trial Invitational, which brought together 26 teams from several Universities.


Peace worker inspires students

Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Betty Williams spoke about her life as a "peace worker" in Northern Ireland and the need for social reform in the United States in front of about 150 attendees of the Student Peace Alliance National Conference in the Hassenfeld Conference Center last Saturday.Williams, who is from Belfast, Ireland, won the Nobel Prize in 1977 for her work organizing marches to protest violence in Northern Ireland after witnessing the death of three children as a result of the conflict between Protestants and Catholics in the region.


GPS units stolen

Three cars were found in the Charles River Lot last Wednesday with smashed side windows and Global Positioning System units, among other items, stolen from inside.Two of the students whose cars were damaged said Tuesday that GPS units had been stolen, one of whom had an iPod stolen as well, according to Director of Public Safety Ed Callahan.


Renovations on campus completed over summer

Students returning to campus last week have found a cleaner pond in Massell Quad, as well as a renovated Chapels Field.The pond was dredged to remove sediment buildup and a new fountain was installed in University-funded repairs, according to a Student Union press release last Tuesday.
