Student Union President Andy Hogan '11 introduced Rick Sawyer, dean of Student Life. Sawyer spoke about recent projects in Student Life. He spoke about overcrowding on campus and its effect on the student body. He said that the future of the Justice Brandeis Semester and Gateway summer programs are still undecided.Sawyer said that Student Life is in the process of choosing several units at the Charles River Apartments to renovate and absorb into student housing. According to Sawyer, Student Life is working with Capital Projects and Community Living to expand on-campus housing options. Other potential projects include renovation of the Charles River Apartments, the Mods and the Castle. Sawyer said that overcrowding will become an important issue if the University hopes to add 400 undergraduates to its enrollment in the near future.

Union Senior Representative to the Board of Trustees Jonathan Kane '10 reported that the main topics discussed at the Board meeting last week were the University budget, academics, physical facilities and the Rose Art Museum.

Hogan reported that the Committee on Endowment Ethics and Responsibility has been formed and will be meeting soon. He also reported that the Constitutional Review Committee plan is in its final stages.

Hogan also reported that the Student Union is working to renew the "Take Your Professor to Lunch" project. He also said that the Senate Web site will be redesigned by Thanksgiving.

Director of Community Advocacy Jenna Brofsky '10 reported that due to crowding, an additional BranVan will be provided for a short trial period from 5 to 9 p.m. on Nov. 10, 12, 17 and 19.

Senator for North Quad Andrea Ortega '13 reported that she is trying to renovate the BrandeisNow page to make it more of a resource for students.

Senator-at-Large Rami Abdelghafar '10 reported that there have been complaints from residents of the Charles River Apartments about a suspicious person standing outside the building most nights around 3 a.m. He suggested a renewed campaign for public safety.
