Arafat: Mentally ill or just plain nuts?
We all know that Yasser Arafat is a sick man. But what if he was also sick in the head (i.e. suffering from a mental disorder)? Now, don't get me wrong. I am not attempting to get people to feel sorry for Arafat by saying that his awful leadership and support of terrorism is all due to some factor that is beyond his control. No, the U.N. already has that covered by blaming Israel for his failure as a leader. I am merely wondering if the man has ever seen a psychiatrist. You may be wondering where I am going with this zany idea. I'll tell you. It's not based in any scientific research or data, I didn't asky any experts in the Psychology department (even though I'm sure they would be a great resource in this matter). No, all I have done is witness a close relative struggle with something called schizo-affective disorder. Basically, this disorder is a combination between schizophrenia and bi-polar disorder (formerly known as "manic-depressive"). Again, I highlight my innocence in the sciences and urge you to consult your local Mailman for more information. But basically, this close relative of mine is extremely gifted at making others feel sorry for him, playing the victim in all scenarios, manipulating others to get what he wants, and rarely taking responsbility for his actions. And it is largely because of his mental illness. Hmm...who does those types of behavior remind you of???
I know it may be a stretch to suppose that Arafat is also suffering from the same - or a similiar - mental illness as my relative merely because I see a commonality in their type of behavior, but I think it's worth examining the possibility, rather than simply making him out to be a horrible tyrant by his own "reasonable" faculties. But then again, he could be just another angry Arab.
