The Heller School's Institute for Sustainable Development (ISD) and other University offices will remain at 60 Turner St. for now despite recent attempts by the landlord to remove Brandeis offices in order to sell the property, according to Treasurer and Chief Investment Officer Dan Solomon. "We have no indication that we would not be in there for at least 18 more months," Solomon said. "Eighteen months is a long time."

The University leases the building from a private owner who, according to Solomon, wants to put the property up for sale and wanted Brandeis out. "They just didn't want us there. They wanted to sell the building vacant," Solomon said. The University has been in negotiations with the owners, and Solomon said he now feels confident that the Brandeis offices located at 60 Turner St. will not have to relocate anytime in the near future.

Solomon does, however, acknowledge that Turner St. may eventually disappear from the Brandeis building directory. "If we have to find another location, we'll do what we need to do that. In this economy we can find vacant space rather easily and we feel confident that we can provide for the offices currently (at Turner Street)," he said.

Along with ISD, 60 Turner St. is largely filled with other Heller School offices such as the Center for Hunger and Poverty, Social Policy and Management, the Asset Development Institute, the Center for Youth and Communities and the Food Security Institute.
