That '80s Stein'
Remember when you used to wear your hair in a half ponytail? Or, the days you got home from school excited to watch "Punky Brewster" on TV? Or, the times you heard your parents talking about Ronald Reagan, but you really only understood that he was some famous ex-actor turned president. Ah, yes . the '80s. On Wednesday night, the senior class transformed the Stein into a mecca of '80s memorabilia with flashing lights and bubbly, bouncy music. Along the walls were posters of '80s teen idols, including members of the "Brat Pack," pictures of favorite '80s shows, such as "The Facts of Life" and "The Wonder Years" (Kevin Arnold was the cutest!), and a timeline of '80s social, political and cultural events. The music was typical kitschy '80s with Madonna, Debbie Gibson and The B-52's blaring out of the DJ's speakers.
Along with drinks and snacks from the bar, one could amuse oneself with the silly putty and Fraggles that were floating around. Unfortunately, there was a very low turnout of people to the event with maybe a maximum of 20 at a given time. Since finals are quickly approaching, and graduation is on everybody's minds, very few were in the mood for a night of dancing and drinking to '80s rock. Yet, I must say that the people who were there were having a blast and came dressed in great '80s garb.
Ultimately, "That '80s Stein" was a good effort, but the bad timing did it in.
