The No. 25 women’s tennis team started its spring season on Saturday afternoon, falling to Bryant University by a score of 6-1. The squad is looking to improve upon its 11-11 season a year ago.

In singles play, No. 1 Carley Cooke ’15 fell 6-4, 3-6, 10-6 to begin her final season of collegiate tennis. Most of her teammates faced a similar fate with No. 3 Simone Vandroff ’16 losing in straight sets, 1-6, 4-6. 

On the No. 4 court,  Emily Eska ’16 had a similar match falling to her competition, 4-6, 6-1. No. 5 singles Maya Vassar ’16 was only able to win one game in the match, going down in straight sets 1-6, 0-6, while No. 6 singles Charlotte Aaron ’18 lost 2-6, 1-6. 

The lone victory on the day came from the Judges’ No. 2 singles player, Haley Cohen ’18. Cohen defeated her counterpart from Bryant in a competitive match, 6-7, 6-3, 10-7. 

The Judges will be off for a couple of weeks until their yearly trip to California where they will face off against Chapman University on Feb. 18, Redlands University on Feb. 20 and the University of La Verne on Feb. 21.
