Capital campaign extends goal

The first phase of a $470 million University fundraising initiative reached completion last month, according to Susan Krinsky, associate vice-president of the campaign.Officially titled "The Campaign for Brandeis: Creating Connections," the effort raised $510 million, surpassing its $470 million goal, Krinsky said.


Archdiocese transfers chaplain

Answering a reassignment request from the Boston Archbishop Sean P. O'Malley, Father David Michael, the campus Catholic chaplain, said he will leave his position here at the end of this semester for a parish in Boston."This change in my ministry and my subsequent departure from Brandeis comes unexpectedly, and I know that it will cause feelings of dislocation and losswithin our community," Michael wrote in an e-mail to the Catholic community Nov.


Cultural M.A. on its way

A new interdisciplinary Master's program called Cultural Production, which aims to give students academic background and practical experience in "making culture," is set to begin next fall semester.
