Athletics: Eight inducted into Hall of Fame

Newspaper clippings, medals, plaques, photos and two pairs of brightly colored trousers adorned eight tables at the?Westin Hotel in?Waltham last Sunday, one table for each of the former athletes inducted into the Brandeis University Joseph M.


SWIMMING: Teams place fourth and fifth

After finishing the first day of last weekend's Massachusetts Institute of Technology Invitational in seventh place out of as many teams, the women's swimming and diving team bounced back on the second day and jumped up to fifth place overall with a two-day total of 366 points.The men's team also climbed in the standings on the second day of the Invitational, improving one spot to finish in fourth place out of seven teams with 344 points overall.The women's team finished ahead of Bowdoin College and Colby College, which finished sixth and seventh respectively, but behind New York University, Tufts University, MIT and Wheaton College.


SWIMMING: Teams swept by Tufts University

Competing against Tufts University, a team with nearly three times the number of swimmers on Brandeis' roster, the men's and women's swimming and diving teams suffered their first loss of the month last Sunday.After winning three straight meets, one of which was a 128-109 victory over Division II Bentley College last Tuesday, the men's team fell to Tufts 205-82, while the women's team saw a four-meet winning streak end with a 169.5-114.5 loss to the Jumbos.


SWIMMING: Men and women's teams sweep Babson

In just the second meet since the University decided to close Linsey pool, a total of five members on the men's and women's swimming and diving teams won more than one individual event as both squads defeated Babson College last Thursday.The women's team won 119-89 and climbed to 3-1 for the season, while the men's team picked up its second straight victory with a 125-96 win and improved to 2-2 on the season.


ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Angela Chui '12

In just the first three swim meets of her collegiate career, women's swimming and diving team member Angela Chui '12 has already broken school records in individual events four times.


SWIMMING: Judges take first at season-opener

After one meet in her college career, rookie Angela Chui '12 already has a school record on her list of accomplishments.Chui's time of 1 minute, 1.97 seconds in the backstroke leg leading off the 400-yard medley relay broke the Brandeis all-time 100-yard backstroke record at the swimming and diving teams' season-opening Michael Zarrilli Memorial Invitational last Saturday.


Crew team partakes in Head of the Charles Regatta

Five members of the crew team competed in last weekend's 44th annual Head of the Charles Regatta in the men's collegiate fours race, where they placed 25th out of 31 teams with a time of 18 minutes, 37.14 seconds, the best time Brandeis has posted on that particular course."The men's collegiate fours is actually a pretty tough division," coach Dave Deiuliis said.
