Sometimes in our "Brandeis bubble" it's hard to remember that we actually live in Waltham. Not surprisingly, as a newspaper with finite resources serving a highly active campus community, it's often difficult to fit coverage of Waltham into our pages.


Kerry not visiting for EarthFest

U.S. Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., will not be visiting Brandeis for this week's EarthFest, but the University is still trying to secure a time for the former presidential nominee to speak on campus later this month.Kerry was originally scheduled to speak at Brandeis next Monday but could not make it due to scheduling conflicts, Senior Vice President for Communications Lorna Miles said Monday.


U.S. Rep Ed Markey to speak on campus

U.S. Representative Ed Markey (D-Mass.), chairman of the House Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming, will speak on campus during an environmental sustainability week next month, according to Senior Vice President for Communications Lorna Miles.The lecture will be part of EarthFest, a 10-day celebration from April 6 to 16 focused on sustainability, the effects of global climate change and environmental destruction and student-based solutions and careers in the green collar sector.

Clinton event moved to larger venue

The administration moved former President Bill Clinton's Dec. 3 address from the Shapiro Gymnasium to the larger gym in the Gosman Sports and Convocation Center after receiving permission to do so from the Secret Service, the security force that protects all current and former presidents, University President Jehuda Reinharz said last Friday.


Clinton speech moved to larger Gosman area

Former President Bill Clinton's address December 3 will be held in the main area of the Gosman Sports and Convocation Center, a space that can hold over three times as many people as the Shapiro Gymnasium, the event's original location, University President Jehuda Reinharz announced in a campus wide e-mail Wednesday night.Online registration for tickets to Clinton's speech has also been extended until midnight next Wednesday, Reinharz wrote.
