Fubu strikes a pose: first Asper award

The urban sportswear company FUBU was given the first Asper Award for social entrepreneurship in a ceremony that took place of the Faculty Club after a forum for global entrepreneurship yesterday.President of CanWest Global Communications Leonard Asper '86 started the project as a way of giving back to his alma mater, "beyond the obligatory $100 or $200 check." The Asper Award honors an individual or company which has displayed extraordinary leadership and innovation in the field of global entrepreneurship, according to a Brandeis International Business School press release."Like this school, entrepreneurship is about being part of something that is being creative," Asper said.


New amendments presented

The Union's Balloting Task Force recently proposed three new amendments to the constitution to be placed on voting system during spring elections.The Senate hopes the new amendments will clarify and change election procedures and better define the duties of elected officials.


Program proposed to connect students and professors

Students and Professors Interacting Now (SPIN) is a Senate proposal designed to build bonds within the community and is to take place next year.Executive Senator Erica Lemansky '05 and Union Treasurer Andrei Khots '05 wrote the proposal to restart the program, which will include an entire week of events of interaction between students and faculty.
