Entering the month of October, the Judges played against Worcester Polytechnic Institute that inflicted their fifth straight loss, a streak they have yet to overcome. They are now 7–10 for the season, while the Engineers improved to 14–3. Looking ahead, the Judges face Regis College on Tuesday Oct. 9, hoping to overcome this mid-season slump.

The Judges continue on a relatively strong note this season. In the past week, they won two games and lost one, improving to 7-5 for the season. Looking ahead to next week, the Judges hope to defeat Roger Williams University on Tuesday.

On April 6, 2018, Brandeis men’s basketball coach Brian Meehan was dismissed following accusations of discrimination against and abuse of members of the team. Since then, there has been an independent investigation into the inner workings of the Athletic Department, and on Sept. 4, University President Ron Liebowitz sent a 25 page summary report to the Brandeis community, the first part of two updates that will be released to the Brandeis community.

This season has been a roller coaster coaster so far for the Judges, who are 5-4 for the season. They lost two out of their last three games. After defeating Gordon College, the Judges fell to Endicott College and Tufts University.

Dorothy L. Hodgson, an internationally known anthropologist, was selected as the new dean of Arts and Sciences last May. She previously served as the senior associate dean for academic affairs at Rutgers University’s School of Graduate Studies.

The newest members of the Brandeis community have arrived on campus and began their Brandeis journeys on Sunday, Aug. 26. After a full day of moving in and events, the Class of 2022, transfer students and their families gathered on Chapel’s Field for the annual Convocation ceremony.

Critic loves this season's films

While the past few months have been devoid of the indie films I was anticipating, I was pleasantly surprised by what has been released. I have spouted enough praise for “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri” and thoroughly reviewed 2017 as a whole, so I’ve decided to solely cover the films that came out during the spring semester.

In a ceremony on Saturday, the University inducted 92 students to the Mu Massachusetts chapter of Phi Beta Kappa. Family and friends celebrated with the inductees at the event in Spingold Theater.

On Monday, April 30, the University experienced severe network outages that interfered with the University Wi-Fi and other online services, such as LATTE and PeopleSoft. According to an email from Provost Lisa Lynch, the network outage lasted roughly from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.

The Brandeis baseball team continues to push forward despite the challenges they face trying to improve upon the season that they have been having thus far. Their efforts prevailed, as the team managed to break their 14 game losing streak with a victory over University Athletic Association rival, the New York University Violets during their second game on Saturday. The Judges record for the season changed to 3-21 and 1-11 in the UAA.

After the rescheduling of games against Bridgewater State University, Clark University and Wentworth Institute of Technology, respectively, the Brandeis baseball team has only played in one game in the past week, a game in which the Judges were defeated by the Worcester Polytechnic Institute Engineers.

In the hours just before the polls opened last night, candidates for the open Student Union Executive Board positions debated one another. In the debate, which was moderated by representatives from The Brandeis Hoot and the Justice, candidates addressed constituents, upholding their respective platforms and vying for students’ votes.

The Brandeis Baseball team has had a rocky start to their season so far. With only one victory since their season began on March 5, the Judges have a long way to go if they want to reach the playoffs.

Saturday, March 8 brought an end to a rollercoaster season for the Brandeis men’s basketball team. The Judges ended with an overall record of 7-18 and 3-11 in the University Athletic Association. The team record declined from the 2016-17 season, during which the Judges concluded their season 8-16, overall.

The Brandeis men’s and women’s track teams had an impressive weekend. Both competed at two meets over the course of the weekend, and both meets were marked by dominant individual performances in both groups. These meets continue what have already been impressive seasons for both the men and the women.
