Judy Glasser has been appointed as the University’s interim senior vice president for communications and began working in her position on Wednesday, according to an email from Glasser to the Justice.

The announcement came in an email on Thursday from University President Frederick Lawrence and Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs Lisa Lynch.

As the interim senior vice president for communications, Glasser will “oversee all Brandeis activities related to media relations, University publications, websites and official social media channels, and creative services,” according to the email.

She succeeds former Senior Vice President for Communications Ellen de Graffenreid, who resigned from her position in August 2014, according to a Sept. 27 Justice article.

Since de Graffenreid’s dearture, Senior Vice President for Students and Enrollment Andrew Flagel has filled the position of interim senior vice president for communications for the past nine months, according to the email sent to the community by Lawrence and Lynch.

Glasser has most recently served as the senior vice president of communications at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, which is a teaching hospital in Boston that is associated with Harvard medical school, according to the email. Additionally, Glasser has served as the vice president of communications at the Massachusetts Hospital Association and was previously a consultant at a Boston-based public-affairs firm.

Glasser was unable to interview with the Justice this weekend due to engagements out of town. Flagel and Executive Director of Integrated Media Bill Schaller declined requests for comment.
