Brandeis can claim yet another reality television star. Meet Flemington, N.J.'s Richard Rubin '05, who claims he has never been kissed. This trait may not be desirable for many aiming to get onto a reality TV program, yet Rubin's innocence was exactly what producers were looking for when they cast him for The WB's Beauty and the Geek, premiering Wednesday, June 1 at 8 p.m.The reality competition pairs women-all of whom fit the "dumb blonde" stereotype-with brilliant men who claim to have no game when it comes to ladies. Each "beauty" is paired with a "geek" to compete in challenges for a shot at the $250,000 prize. The drop-dead gorgeous beauties-who include an NBA cheerleader, a life-size Barbie model and a beer spokeswoman-team up a group of computer programmers, medical students and even the president of the Dukes of Hazzard fan club. From executive producer Ashton Kutcher, the prankster behind MTV's Punk'd, Beauty and the Geek is being advertised by The WB as "the ultimate social experiment."

The two groups are at opposite ends of social and intellectual ladders. The men learn about female fashion while the women compete in spelling bees-difficult challenges for both groups. The beauties help the geeks acquire dance skills, and in return the men teach their lady friends about rocket science.

Judging by the commercials for Beauty and the Geek, Rubin's oddball character makes him one of the show's standout contestants. Clips show him breaking a glass by biting it and not knowing what a women's size 0 is. In one scene, Rubin meets a woman on the street and asks for her number. The lady then calls over a man and asks, "Honey, should I give him my number?" Rubin responds: "Oh, that's your husband."
