Pop Culture: Prince Charles marries, Britney Spears gets reality show
Prince Charles wed his longtime mistress Camilla Parker Bowles in a private civil ceremony at the Guildhall in Windsor, England. Though the couple appeared jittery, their love was obvious and even Queen Elizabeth was beaming as she left the ceremony. The couple has been romantically linked for 30 years, and many blame their affair for ruining Charles' marriage to the late Princess Diana.
Camilla will be styled Her Royal Highness, the Duchess of Cornwall. Although she is technically Princess of Wales, too, Camilla will not be using that title because it is still associated with Diana.
Thousands lined the streets in hopes of catching a glimpse of the royal couple. Although many Britons were originally disdainful of Camilla for intruding on Diana's marriage, Charles and Camilla's obvious adoration for one another helped them finally win the public's approval.
Also seeking newlywed media attention, Britney Spears and her husband Kevin Federline have signed on to do a six-episode reality series on UPN in hopes of refuting negative gossip about their marriage. According to BBC News, Federline said the show would be a "documentation of love." The couple will produce and host the series, which will include footage of Spears' European tour, wedding arrangements and the actual ceremony.
"I am now going to be expressing my personal life through art," Spears told the BBC.
