Pop Culture: Madonna dresses as a nun for Purim
Madonna's attire has just become even more controversial. For the Jewish holiday of Purim, the material girl and her husband Guy Ritchie participated in the tradition of wearing a costume... by dressing up as a nun and the Pope.
The couple was spotted as they traveled across London on their way to a Kabbalah party to observe the holiday, which celebrates the saving of Persian Jews from extermination in the fifth century B.C.E.
According to the World News Entertainment Network, Madonna's publicist Liz Rosenberg told MTV, "Yes, she was dressed as a nun and Guy was dressed as the pope. Some Catholic groups are saying stuff, but Purim is a joyous holiday occasion."
"Madonna and Guy had a great time drinking and dancing," the publicist said. "It's funny, because she said that she was happy that the pictures of her are out there because her father would be so proud. She said that when she was a girl she wanted to be a nun and she guesses that she's still a nun at heart."

It's Fever Pitch in Boston as the new romantic comedy that centers around the Red Sox is scheduled to open this coming weekend.
Starring Drew Barrymore as a girl in love with an obsessive Red Sox fan (Jimmy Fallon), Fever Pitch features scenes from the Red Sox's championship and cameos from current players, including Johnny Damon, who graced the cover of Entertainment Weekly's latest edition alongside the movie's stars.
The Natural was a grand slam for Red Sox pitcher Mike Timlin. ''It's about a ballplayer who had trouble in his life, and baseball evened that out for him," Timlin told Entertainment Weekly. "It soothed something in his life. We all have trouble outside the field and this is our sanctuary."
As for the baseball film that struck out? Damn Yankees, Wakefield told Entertainment Weekly. "Not because of the title... I just didn't really care for singing and dancing with baseball.
