Readers, I very much wish that I could end my tenure with you by breaking a huge story. Sadly, very little happened this week in celebrity gossip, aside from President Obama's spot-on comedic timing at the White House Correspondents' Dinner, so this week will be a good old-fashioned "In Case You Missed It" piece. Let's start with the cover stories.
This week held a series of brief talking points: Kim Kardashian and Kanye West went public with their much-suspected romance; rumors surfaced that Jessica Simpson-it really seems like she's been pregnant forever, doesn't it?-had given birth to a baby girl (on Sunday, TMZ reported that those rumors were false and Jess is still ticking towards her due date); and on Saturday, the ever-classy Carey Mulligan married childhood pen pal and Mumford & Sons lead singer Marcus Mumford. The big talking point, however, was the new HBO series Girls, leading up to its premiere on Sunday night.
Current sensation The Hunger Games brought in $155 million during its opening weekend, making it the third highest-grossing debut in U.S. box office history.
We've heard in recent weeks about LGBTQ rights groups "glitter-bombing" anti-gay or anti-trans public figures as the Republican presidential race has continued to capture the nation's attention.
Apparently, they're getting married. "They will get married very soon," said an insider. "He proposed in November, but she said she wasn't ready," another source adds.
It's been a while since we checked in on my girl Lindsay Lohan. The last time she graced this column with her presence was back in November 2011, when she was heading to court to deal with theft charges and parole violations. But it seems like Lohan may have genuinely gotten herself back on the straight and narrow in the past few weeks, beginning with her grabbing the role of Elizabeth Taylor in Lifetime's upcoming production (it probably won't win her any Oscars, but it's a start!) and culminating with her hosting Saturday Night Live last weekend. This was Lohan's fourth time hosting the show.

Called "this year's dirty movie" by The New York Times, Shame has taken over for last year's Blue Valentine as the film that makes even the most sexually comfortable viewer a little uncomfortable. Shame, directed by British artist-turned-filmmaker Steve McQueen, tells the story of Brandon (Michael Fassbender), a smooth-talking, handsome sex addict who lives and works in New York.
The Academy Award nominations are out, and Oscar buzz is now in full swing. In the last few days, we've seen the usual flood of conversation about the nominations: the contenders' reactions, talk show discussions of possible outcomes and the ever-amusing "if Academy Award movie posters told the truth" photo manipulations (always a laugh). But in a year of big, Oscar-bait movies, it's not surprising that the biggest topic on everyone's mind is not who's going to win, but who was snubbed.
