Stein to defend alcohol license at city hearing

The Waltham License Commission will hold a hearing next Tuesday for The Stein's Nov. 10 citation by Waltham police for serving alcohol to two underage customers.The Stein faces a one to three day suspension of its liquor license, according to Lieutenant Joseph Brooks of the Waltham police department, who said the License Commission has recently changed its penalty structure for this type of case.


First airport shuttle 3 hours late

Thanksgiving shuttles to Logan Airport last week arrived at Brandeis up to three hours late due to the rain and road accidents, according to the Senate chair of the Union services committee, which funds these shuttles.


New dorms likely for fall 2008

Students adjust after sprinkler accident in East

Life began its return to normalcy for residents of the top floors of Pomerantz Hall this week, after a burst sprinkler head on the sixth floor flooded parts of the building and caused a still undetermined amount of damage to student property last Sunday.Most students reported only wet clothing, bedding, and shoes, although some electronic items were damaged after students throwing a football in the hall hit the sprinkler, causing the flood.


Communist advocate expelled

Revolutions Books representative Mark Brier was barred from campus last month while distributing Revolution, a newspaper published by the Revolutionary Communist Party (RCP). Campus police received a complaint from two anonymous witnesses that Brier was handing out flyers and other solicitation documents in front of Usdan Student Center, Director of Public Safety Edward Callahan said.Callahan said the University prohibits solicitation without permission as well as trespassing without "explicit business." In accordance with University Public Safety protocol, Brier was asked to leave and given a verbal trespassing warning, Callahan said.
