Accepted students visit Brandeis

Six hundered fifty-three prospective students, the largest group in the University's history, participated in spring open house last Thursday, according to Dean of Admissions Gil Villanueva.


Summer abroad programs approved for credit

Starting in the summer of 2009, students will be able to receive academic credit for approved summer study abroad programs that is equal to the amount of credit granted for Advanced Placement exams and Brandeis Summer School, according to University Registrar Mark Hewitt.

In a close second round of elections, Director of Union Affairs Jason Gray '10 won the race for Student Union President with 49.86 percent of the vote last Tuesday.


Close race leaves winners undecided

Director of Union Affairs Jason Gray '10 will face off against Deputy Treasurer Justin Kang '09 today in the second round of the race for Student Union President after Gray gained 49.64 percent of the vote in the first round of Union elections, which ended Sunday night.Only one vote separated Village Quad Senator Michael Kerns '09 and Finance Board member Jordan Rothman '09 in the race for the Vice Presidency, according to the primary round uncertified results sent to candidates from the elections commissioner.


Race for Union presidency begins

While the entire country is following the 2008 presidential race, Brandeis is getting ready to pick its own Student Union president.Two current Union officials and two Union outsiders have announced their candidacies for Student Union president, with the first round of elections to open next Sunday.


Palestinian club chartered

A new campus club called Brandeis Students for Justice and Peace in Palestine was chartered by the Student Union Senate last Sunday with a vote of 11 in favor, three against and one abstention.The club tries to shine a new perspective on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, said club founder Lisa Hanania '11.


Students forced to wait in long lines for eXstaSy

EXstaSy, a party held last Saturday night in order to assess various aspects of campus social events, disappointed many students who were forced to wait outside when Sherman Function Hall reached its capacity of 500 people sooner than expected.The Student Union executive board planned the party, which was co-sponsored by 31 other clubs and was one source of dispute in the passing of the Student Union government operations budget last week.
