Brandzel urges social activism

Political activist Ben Brandzel '03 encouraged first-year students to embrace the Brandeis legacy of social activism by calling on them to defy the odds and make the world a better place last Tuesday in Spingold.

Student Union President Jason Gray '10 swore in Noam Shuster '11 as senator-at-large. The Union Judiciary issued an injunction last spring halting her swearing-in after former Senator-at-Large Andrew Brooks '09 contested the election results.


ResLife director leaves

Former Director of Residence Life Richard DeCapua left his position at Brandeis last summer, and Associate Director of ResLife Dean Gendron and Associate Director for Operations and Assignments Jeremy Leiferman will serve as interim co-directors of ResLife, Dean of Student Life Rick Sawyer said.DeCapua came to Brandeis in summer 2006 and has left to become associate dean of students at Suffolk University in Boston.


New rabbi search to commence

University administrators will form a new search committee this fall to locate a Jewish chaplain for the University after Rabbi Allan Lehmann vacated the position last summer, Senior Vice President for Students and Enrollment Jean Eddy said.Two search committees failed to find a suitable candidate for the rabbi position.


WhoCash can be purchased online

Since Monday April 14, all members of the Brandeis community have had the option of adding WhoCash to their student ID cards online from the Campus Card Office Web site with credit or debit cards, said Anne Livermore, assistant director for student technical services in Library and Technology Services said.


Back Pages Books struggles

When Back Pages Books first opened in 2005, owner Alex Green '04 said that the independent bookstore received an outpouring of support from the community, when no independent bookstore had existed in the town for many years.
