WBBALL NOTEBOOK: Teammates are making up for slumping Capra

Before the season started, members of the women's basketball team said they would replace all-time leading scorer Caitlin Malcolm '07 with a balanced offensive effort, instead of forcing guard Jaime Capra '08, a first-team all-University Athletic Association performer last season, to shoulder a heavier offensive load.


WBBALL: Team is upset by Kenyon

After trailing for nearly the entire game against Kenyon College in the championship round of the Brandeis Tip-Off Tournament last Saturday, the women's basketball team rallied to take a 49-46 lead with 7 minutes, 19 seconds to play on center Lauren Orlando's '09 third layup in a three-minute stretch.

Neither the torrential rain nor the leftover winds from Hurricane Noel prevented the women's soccer team's seniors from shining in their final regular-season contest last Saturday.Captain and midfielder Sarah Jasak '08 scored two goals, while forward Tzlil Castel '08 and defender Kalina Ehrenreich-Piot '08 each had an assist as the Judges defeated New York University 2-0 in its last regular-season contest.

Despite attempting more shots than Carnegie Mellon University during the first half of last Sunday's game, the women's soccer team trailed 1-0 at halftime and was in danger of returning home winless from its two-game University Athletic Association weekend road trip.


WSOCCER: A defensive collapse in second half

Despite capturing its earliest lead of the season with a goal in the first minute of play, the women's soccer team suffered one of the most lopsided defeats in school history against Bowdoin College Thursday.Forward Melissa Gorenkoff '10 gave Brandeis a 1-0 lead just 55 seconds into the game, but it was all downhill from there, as Bowdoin tied the game just 12 minutes later and proceeded to score seven goals in the second half to defeat the Judges 8-1 Thursday.
