Professors receive recognition

The Lerman-Neubauer '69 Prize for Excellence in Teaching and Mentoring, the Michael L. Walzer '56 Award for Teaching and the Louis Dembitz Brandeis Prize for Excellence in Teaching were presented at last week's faculty meeting.


Senate Log

At its meeting on Sunday night, the Student Union Senate passed a bylaw amendment stating that "No candidate [for Student Union office] may use his/her prerogatives as a listserv administrator to solicit votes on behalf of his/her own campaign." Senator for the Class of 2011 Michael Newborn, who introduced the amendment, said that the issue had arisen during the campaign for associate justice of the Student Judiciary but did not elaborate.


Phront receives $5,000 prize

The Student Philanthropy Front has been awarded $5,000 as the recipient of the first Sillerman Prize for Innovations in Philanthropy sponsored by the Sillerman Center for the Advancement of Philanthropy, according to Director of Capacity Building at the Sillerman Center Claudia Jacobs.


Workload committee revises original proposals

Dean of Arts and Sciences Adam Jaffe, who chaired the Arts and Sciences Faculty Workload Committee, said that he has met with the Undergraduate Curriculum Committee, the Faculty Senate and department heads in the Arts and Sciences regarding the Initial Report of the Arts and Sciences Faculty Workload Committee, which was originally published Feb.


Union Judiciary removes secretary

The Student Union Judiciary has ruled in the case of In re Diana Aronin that the former Student Union Secretary was "guilty of such breach of constitutional duty as was specified by the Senate" in Resolution F09-3 regarding her failure to present a referendum to the Brandeis community and has ordered that Aronin be removed from office.


Housing will not be offered to JBS students

Students who apply and are accepted to Justice Brandeis Semester programs for either fall 2010 or spring 2011 will not be eligible for on-campus housing during the program but will be eligible for housing during the other semester, according to Director of the Department of Community Living Jeremy Leiferman.According to the 2010 Room Selection Guide, accessible through the Brandeis University Web site, "Students enrolled in a Justice Brandeis Semester for fall are not eligible for on-campus housing during the fall semester, but may request housing for the spring semester.
