Student groups to help organize Japan relief efforts

Multiple student groups on campus have joined together to raise money for the American Red Cross in response to the 9.0-magnitude earthquake that affected the northeastern coast of Japan on March 11.The Japanese Student Association, the Intercultural Center, the Brandeis Asian-American Student Association, the Muslim Student Association, the Shapiro Campus Center team and Waltham Group are all working together to fundraise.


Lawrence accepts Library and Technology Services recommendations

University President Frederick Lawrence announced in a Feb. 10 campuswide e-mail that himself, Provost Marty Krauss and Senior Vice President for Administration Mark Collins had reviewed and accepted three main recommendations made by the Library and Technology Services Advisory Committee in their latest report concerning the replacement of Vice Provost and Vice President for Library and Technology Services Perry Hanson, who has announced his retirement.The committee was charged in August by Collins and Krauss to examine how to best replace Hanson, according to the report.On Jan.


Leaks occur in Castle

Students residing in the Usen Castle experienced ceiling leaks due to clogged and frozen roof drains as a result of the extreme weather conditions last week, according to Associate Vice President for Facilities and Services Peter Shields."It was a phenomenon based on the weather we've had over the past couple of weeks," Shields explained in an interview with the Justice.


Students campaign for open Senate seats

Special elections for the Senator for Village Quad, the Senator for East Quad and Senator for the Class of 2012 will take place tomorrow, according to Student Union Secretary Herbie Rosen '12.Morris Didia '14, Nathan Israel '14 and Sarah Pace '13 will be running for the Senator for Village Quad position; Travis Rapoza '13, Ravnit Bhatia '13, Francine Kofinas '13 and Andrew Hayes '13 will be running for the Senator for the East Quad position; and Andrew Ramirez is campaigning to be the Senator for the Class of 2012.


Campus bookstore offers textbook rentals

At the beginning of this semester, the campus bookstore began offering rental and digital textbooks in addition to new and used books, a decision based on discussions between University administration and the bookstore that took place at the end of the fall semester, according to store manager for the bookstore Stacey Jackson.


Administrative Structure Advisory Committee report released
