Admissions office undergoes changes
The Office of Admissions will experience major administrative changes this fall with the arrival of a new dean of Admissions, Mark Spencer, and the departure of Senior Vice President for Students and Enrollment Jean Eddy, according to e-mails to the student body from Eddy and University President Jehuda Reinharz.According to Eddy's e-mail, Spencer previously served as director of Admissions for the Cornell University College of Engineering.
Provost introduces new system of online course evaluations
The online course evaluation system will change this semester so that students can include final exams in their evaluations, and early access to grades will be available only to students who fill out their evaluations, according to an April 22 e-mail to the student body from Provost Marty Krauss.Under the new system, students will be able to complete their course evaluations throughout finals week, in addition to during the three weeks before finals, which was the case last year.
University restructures Office of Communications
Three staff members in the Office of Communications were let go as a result of restructuring last month that included the hiring of Bill Burger in the new position of associate vice president of communications.According to an e-mail to the Justice from Senior Vice President of Communications and External Affairs Andrew Gully, "The Communications Department has been restructured so we can be better positioned to reach the long-term communications and marketing goals that we're developing for Brandeis.
More students choose to live in the Charles River Apartments
Students hoping to live on campus for the duration of next year participated in room selection last week with less housing available for upperclassmen as options were expanded for the larger sophomore class, according to Assistant Dean of Student Life Maggie Balch.In an e-mail to the Justice, Balch wrote that the first room chosen in upperclassman housing was located in the Charles River Apartments, a different scenario than that in prior years.
