F-board makes changes to ease allocation process

The Finance Board recently made changes to ensure funds are distributed more equitably among clubs after $30,317 granted by the Allocations Board remained unspent last spring.Changes include redirecting unspent money into the allocations pool before the end of the semester, a "buddy system" to inform club leaders of proper procedures and a system to share items purchased by the F-board.During marathon, which occurs toward the beginning of each semester, clubs request money to help fund certain items or events.

Students safe after bombings

Study Abroad Director J. Scott Van Der Meid reported that all five Brandeis students studying in Madrid are unharmed after ten bombs exploded on four commuter trains last Thursday morning.

Res Life unwilling to give keys to commuters

Senator for Off Campus Residents Bryan Lober '06-who was impeached yesterday morning by the Union Senate-and some of his constituents are expressing frustration over Residence Life's unwillingness to provide commuters with keys to dormitories because of security concerns.According to Director of Residence Life Maggie Balch, the Housing Advisory Committee decided to discontinue giving exterior keys to commuters last year because of an added security risk.

Union amendment incites disagreement

A proposed amendment to the Union constitution allowing students studying abroad to vote in Union elections led to arguments regarding how the legislation was drafted.Union President Joshua Brandfon '05 said the authors of the amendment, Union Treasurer Andrei Khots '05 and Financial Board Chair Mark Schlangel '05, did not consider student and Union input throughout the research process.

Curriculum to get boost of diversity

A new plan regarding the integration of diversity issues into the University's curriculum was announced Wednesday by Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs Marty Krauss.Krauss explained the Provost's Steering Committee on Campus Diversity Issues was impaneled to focus on concrete methods to "deepen faculty awareness of the dynamics of racial, religious and social class differences among ourselves and our students." After last semester's events, Krauss said she wanted to inform the community about the Administration's course of action toward promoting diversity -on campus.
