45 left behind from march

After a bus scheduled to take approximatley 45 students to Washington for Sunday's March for Women's Lives did not arrive, the Feminist Majority Leadership Alliance (FMLA) began working to prepare a cause of action against Bus Bank, the company contracted to send the transportation.Students said they were unable to attend the march because their bus, scheduled for a 2 a.m.


Beautiful vocal tribute to festival founder Bernstein

Leonard Bernstein founded the Festival of the Arts as a forum to debut his new piece of music. Now, 52 years after the original founding, Kristen Sergeant (GRAD), accompanied by Jennifer Honen (GRAD), paid tribute to him in a small and intimate recital last Friday.Sergeant opened her performance with I Hate Music, a song cycle about a child's desire to sing and not worry about all of that music stuff.

Brandeis' first annual film festival, Sundeis, had it's closing ceremonies and award show last Monday night with Diana Buda winning Best in Show for her documentary Ain't No Cure for the Summertime Blues.Going into the ceremony, the three big nominees were Tom Toro of Yale for Devolving, Adam Blumenfeld '05 for Threshold and Dan Martin of Harvard for The Night Before with six nominations each.


Spur gives its senior members the boot

The atmosphere was heavy last Saturday as Spur of the Moment took the stage in Schwartz auditorium for their 13th annual "Boot" ceremony, appropriately dubbed "the Bar Mitzvah."The celebration marked the end of road for seniors Anne Emerson, James Yeaton, Robert Tanenbaum and Shana Zell, each of whom helped guide Spur to through four years of International Championships of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA), the recording of their best album Word, and performing for former President Clinton.


Lemle speaks about 'Ram Dass,' filmmaking

Mickey Lemle '69 screened his latest movie Ram Dass Fierce Grace, a biopic on Richard Alpert the influential 70s teacher and author of Be Here Now.Lemle runs an independent film company, which is dedicated to making movies about people who have led inspirational lives by working for spiritual enlightenment and changes in the environment.


Pajama' won't put you to sleep

Tympanium Euphorium's production of George Abbott's The Pajama Game, directed by Jennifer Paul '07, choreographed by Avital Asuleen '06 and musically directed Rachel Shapp '06 and Masya Uchino '06 was overall a mediocre performance with few high points thrown in.
