Second round of elections begins

The second round of Student Union elections, in which students vote for class senators and members of the Student Judiciary, among other positions, is currently under way and will last through midnight tonight.In this round of elections, which opened last night at midnight, students are casting their ballots for SJ members, the representatives to the Brandeis Sustainability Fund Board, senators-at-large, the racial minority senator and senators for the classes of 2012, 2013 and 2014.Also up for election are the junior representative to the Alumni Association, junior representative to the Undergraduate Curriculum Committee, one seat on the Finance Board and the racial minority F-Board seat.

Faculty at meeting discuss the Justice Brandeis Semester

University faculty discussed the status and future of the Justice Brandeis Semester program at last Thursday's faculty meeting, at which Dean of Arts and Sciences Adam Jaffe led a discussion about what is still considered a pilot program.In an interview with the Justice, Jaffe explained that despite this discussion, the program is not being changed but simply being reviewed.

New landscaping ideas proposed

The Office of Capital Projects is currently surveying the Brandeis community to get input on how best to use the empty space created by last semester's demolition of the Friedland Science Building and the demolition of the Kalman Science Building, which will mark the completion of Phase 1 of the Science Complex Renewal Project, according to the Capital Projects website.Phase 1, which the Capital Projects website states includes the construction of the Shapiro Science Center and the demolition of Friedland and Kalman, will be completed "very shortly," said Vice President for Campus Operations Mark Collins in an interview with the Justice.

Student Union proposes Pass/Fail Plus initiative

A new academic initiative called Pass/Fail Plus, which will enable students with a grade of C+ or higher to receive credit for one of the eight general University requirements, has been proposed by the Student Union, according to an e-mail sent last Tuesday to the student body by Union Director of Academic Affairs Danielle Wolfson '11.

Charles River Apartments will be renovated

The Board of Trustees approved a major renovation project, which will include replacing kitchen appliances and installing more interior lighting and a new fire-protection sprinkler system as well as performing general repairs and refurbishments, for the Charles River Apartments at the Board's Feb.
