UJ lifts injunction against Shuster

The Union Judiciary issued its unanimous decision in the Brooks v. Commission case to lift an injunction against Noam Shuster '11 last Monday following a May 3 hearing in which Shuster and former chief of Elections Nelson Rutrick '09 responded to a complaint submitted by Andrew Brooks '09.Brooks alleged that Rutrick should have disqualified Shuster and the other write-in candidate, Kaamila Mohamed '11, for elections violations during the race for senator-at-large this past spring.

Gelbspan calls for civic activism

At Earthfest 2008's closing event Wednesday April 16, journalist Ross Gelbspan spoke about the severity of the global climate crisis and the recognition by citizens that a clean environment is the most important basic human right.Gelbspan has written extensively on the global climate crisis and appeared in the film Everything's Cool, which was screened at Brandeis last spring.


Treasurer proposes long-term goals

Union Treasurer Choon Woo Ha '08 presented his State of Finance, a summary of his goals and accomplishments from his two years as treasurer, highlighting a cap on the Student Activities Fee for the 2008 to 2009 fiscal year last Monday night.


Free speech 'dead' on campuses

Harvey Silverglate, founder and chairman of the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education, gave a lecture titled "The Death of Free Speech, Parody, and Vigorous Debate on Campus: Why Has It Happened, and What Is to Be Done?" last Wednesday in the Shapiro Campus Center Multipurpose room.


Admissions will move to admin buildings during construction

In late May, the Office of Admissions will move to its temporary home on the second level of Bernstein-Marcus and the second floor of Gryzmish while the new Shapiro Admissions Center is under construction, according to administrators.The admissions offices are expected to move into the new admissions center in late summer 2009.According to Union Treasurer Choon Woo Ha '08, the accounts payable office, which performs tasks such as processing checks, will move to Turner Street in order to accommodate admissions.

64 percent response rate on Web course evaluations
