An unidentified male exposed himself to a Brandeis student on South Street on Thursday night, according to an email Director of Public Safety Ed Callahan sent out to the student body on Friday. This marks the fifth incident of indecent exposure near South Street within this academic year.

The men’s basketball team hit the court Sunday against Carnegie Mellon University and Friday against Case Western Reserve University, splitting its contests with the two conference foes. The Judges claimed an easy victory Sunday, thanks mostly to a stellar second half effort. On Friday, however, the Judges fell to Case in a close battle that saw five Judges score in double figures. The squad has had a difficult time stringing together consecutive victories to this point in the season, and this past week’s results only exacerbate concerns over the team’s ability to deliver on a night-to-night basis.

The men and women’s track and field team went to Tufts University this past Saturday to compete at the Tufts Stampede meet. Both the men and women finished in last place in their respective competitions, with the men running against 13 other squads and the women going against 17 others.

The fencing team held its Senior Day on Saturday as the men and women hosted several other universities in this year’s edition of the Eric Sollee Invitational. 14 seniors are set to graduate this year from the fencing team, and friends and family honored them in attendance in a special ceremony.

The men’s basketball team evened its record at 8-8 with a split of University Athletic Association contests on the road last weekend, topping Washington University in St. Louis 69-66 on Friday but falling to the No. 12 University of Chicago 65-50 on Sunday. The Judges fell to 2-3 in UAA play, tied for fifth in the conference with WashU.

On Feb. 3, Ingram will bring these themes together as she delivers the keynote address for ’DEIS Impact 2016.

Spring elections for the Undergraduate Student Union are coming up this Friday, marking the first regular Union elections since a constitutional amendment revamped the Allocations Board and added new members while extending terms. Other positions up for grabs include several senate seats and assistant treasury roles. According to an email sent to the Justice by Student Union Secretary Shuying Liu ’16, 15 candidates are in the running for the 15 available positions.

A new club that aims to support and empower women worldwide has materialized here at Brandeis. The club is a local chapter of the GirlUp campaign of the United Nations Foundation, an organization separate from the United Nations itself that aims to connect the U.N. with outside organizations to help effect change. The goal of the Brandeis chapter is to fundraise money for the missions of the campaign and to raise awareness for the issues that women face globally through thoughtful discussions and events.

The men’s basketball team went 1-1 this past week, defeating Emory University 76-68 in overtime on Sunday and losing to Rochester University 77-53 on Friday. With the victory on Sunday, the Judges improved to 7-7 overall and 1-2 in University Athletic Association play.

The men and women’s track teams ran impressive weekends hosting the Reggie Poyau Memorial Invitational on Saturday, as the men and women took first and second place, respectively. The women won the event on the strength of five individual wins while the men cruised to four individual wins on the afternoon.

During the 1995 to 1996 NBA season, Michael Jordan led the Chicago Bulls to the greatest regular-season record in the history of professional basketball. During that season, which ultimately resulted in Jordan’s fourth championship in six years, the Bulls breezed their way to a 72-10 mark, resulting in the justified assertion that Jordan’s Bulls team was the greatest of all time. However, the Bulls’ place as the greatest ever is being aggressively challenged by the 2015 to 2016 Golden State Warriors.

The women’s basketball team could not hand conference-rival New York University their first loss of the season despite hanging with the Violets for a large stretch of the game, falling 57-46 on Saturday. The loss snapped a three-game winning streak for the Judges, after the team took victories in all three contests that were played over the break. The squad moves to 7-5 on the season overall and opens the year 0-1 in University Athletic Association play.

The University opened a second round of online training for students on sexual misconduct prevention last week in a Jan. 6 email from Sexual Assault Services and Prevention Specialist Sheila McMahon. The first round took place from Aug. 18 to Aug. 27.

Last Wednesday, a group of scholars met to discuss the implications of the Nov. 13 terror attacks in Paris on the Islamic State’s future military and recruitment tactics. The event, which was organized by the Crown Center for Middle East Studies, was titled “ISIS after Paris.”
