The women’s softball team was in Altamonte Springs, Fla. this past week for the University Athletic Association conference tournament. The squad had a strong showing at the tournament, finishing the week with a 6-4 record, good enough to place second overall. The Judges started the week strong, defeating conference foes University of Rochester, New York University and Case Western Reserve University. The team carried that momentum into the weekend, where they seized victory in three of their final five games.

The baseball team lost four of its last five games in the University Athletic Association tournament, beating New York University in a thriller on Saturday. The Judges ended the University Athletic Association Tournament with a 2-6 record and sit at 5-6 overall.

Arthur “Bud” Collins, the first tennis coach in Brandeis’ history and a respected member of the Brandeis Hall of Fame, passed away at the age of 86 on Friday.

The Brandeis women’s Softball team competed in Clermont, Florida over the weekend. The Judges split their only two games of the weekend on Saturday, falling in the first game of their double-header to Austin College in what was a thrilling back-and-forth battle. The Judges managed to turn things around in time for their matchup with Penn State Brandywine, as their balanced offensive attack helped them throttle the Nittany Lions.

The women’s basketball team ended their season on Saturday losing to New York University 70-56 at home, after losing to the University of Chicago 63-50 last Sunday. With the loss on Saturday, the Judges finish the season with a 12-13 record overall and 5-9 record in University Athletic Association play.

Throughout the decades, a fair share of superstars have electrified the NBA. Some elicit dropped jaws, some attract zealous fandom and some perform on such a level that their accolades appear to transcend reality. All of these are applicable for Stephen Curry. The Golden State Warriors guard and reigning Most Valuable Player is performing at such a level that he has many wondering how such historic greatness is even possible.

Last semester, protests and rallies against racial inequity pervaded university campuses across the nation. At Brandeis, the Ford Hall 2015 movement demanded — among other things — that the University admit more students of color, hire more faculty of color and require yearly diversity and inclusion workshops for all members of the staff and faculty.

While the percentage of underrepresented minority applicants has increased by over three percent in the last five years, the University still falls short from the ideal, Vice President for Students and Enrollment Andrew Flagel announced in a presentation at the faculty meeting on Friday. A PowerPoint Interim University President Lisa Lynch showed at the same meeting revealed that while on the uptick, the University’s percentage of historically underrepresented groups in its undergraduate population is lower than peer schools like Brown University.

An unidentified male exposed himself to a Brandeis student on South Street on Thursday night, according to an email Director of Public Safety Ed Callahan sent out to the student body on Friday. This marks the fifth incident of indecent exposure near South Street within this academic year.
