Students for Tibet bring member of International Campaign for Tibet to campus
On Wednesday, April 13, the Students for Tibet club brought speaker Bhuchung K. Tsering of the International Campaign for Tibet to speak to Brandeis students on Tibet-Chinese relations. Tsering himself has spent the last 16 years working with at the ICT in conjunction with the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan Government in Exile. He said in his lecture that the goal for the Tibetan government and the ICT now is not necessarily for "Tibetan independence . but for peaceful coexistence under the Chinese government." In an interview with the Justice, Tsering said his goal with his visit was to further the education of Brandeis students on the subject of human rights in Tibet. Tsering has spoken at numerous other schools when invited; recently, he has spoken at Harvard, Columbia, Georgetown, Stanford and others. According to ICT website, "The International Campaign for Tibet (ICT)works to promote human rights and democratic freedoms for the people of Tibet." Located in Washington, D.C., the ICT has been active since 1988.
