I'mma let you finish . but this whole Kanye thing is getting ridiculous.Oh yes, it's back. I'm sure you all remember last year's MTV Video Music Awards. Teen pop idol Taylor Swift won for Best Female Video. She got up onstage to make her acceptance speech, and who should interrupt her but Kanye West. "I'mma let you finish, Taylor," he said, "but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time. Of all time!"
Far be it from me to say that the "Single Ladies" video wasn't great (though I personally prefer the Justin Timberlake version), but Kanye overstepped a line. The backlash was almost instantaneous-blogs, anti-Kanye sites, the infamous "I'mma let you finish" meme (Google it for a laugh) and more.
Fast forward to today. In weeks leading up to the 2010 VMAs, Kanye has once more taken to the Internet in an attempt to make amends with Taylor. "I wrote a song for Taylor Swift that's so beautiful and I want her to have it. If she won't take it then I'll perform it for her," Kanye said on Twitter. "She had nothing to do with my issues with award shows. She had no idea what hit her. She's just a lil girl with dreams like the rest of it." He went on to say, in a series of posts, "She deserves the apology more than anyone. . Who am I to run on stage? I would never again in a million years do that. Sorry to let you down. It is distasteful to cut people off as a general rule. What's the point of dressing tastefully if I'm going to act the complete opposite. Yes I was that guy. A 32 year old child. When I woke up from the crazy nightmare I looked in the mirror and said GROW UP KANYE . I take the responsibility for my actions. Beyoncé didn't need that. MTV didn't need that and Taylor and her family friends and fans definitely didn't want or need that."
Laying it on just a bit thick there, Kanye.
Kanye might be trying to make amends, but Taylor's not interested. In fact, a rep from Taylor's camp says the offered song is coming across as almost insulting. "Taylor writes her own songs and has been very successful at it," a source told PopEater. "Why would she want to sing one of Kanye's songs? The last thing she wants to do is give him any more attention."
A friend of Taylor put it a bit more succinctly: "As far as Taylor is concerned, Kanye can take his song and shove it.
