A report was made to the Senate about the search for a new University president. The Presidential Search Committee has recieved 800 responses to the student survey from Brandeis students. The committee's goal is at least half of the student population (approximately 1500 responses). Dorm storming and tabling will take place in order to meet that goal. The presidential search was dubbed "one of the most important things happening this year."Renovation on Charles River is going to be completed soon and the Senate discussed having a "Brandeis open house event" for sophomores and juniors to tour the new facilities.

The Senate appointed Tamar Ariel as the director of the Office of Student Rights and Advocacy.

As part of the upcoming constitutional review process, the Student Union entered executive session in order to discuss a new government structure for the Student Union.

After the Union returned from executive session, Krav Maga was proposed as a new club. It will provide students with self-defense techniques developed by the Israeli army. The Senate voted to recognize the club and gave them a grant to hire two instructors.

The Game Night Club was chartered. The club provides students with a place to gather and participate in such activities as capture the flag and sock dogeball. The senate agreed to fund the purchase of socks.

Brandeis Contra Dancers was proposed to give students the opportunity to "conquer dances native to New England." The senate recognized the club and meeting times will be posted on my-Brandeis soon.

The Weightlifting Club changed its name to the Fitness and Weightlifting Club.

Her Campus Brandeis was given a grant to give students an outlet to write opinions concerning health, restaurants, speakers and other issues.

B'note, the Jewish women's choir, was officially instituted. B'note (literally Hebrew for girls) is unique because it provides women with an opportunity to participate in choir without compromising their adherence to the Jewish law.
