The lineup WBRS- and Student Events-organized Springfest music festival was released last night after weeks of research into student preferences. Some students may remember being approached in Usdan or the Shapiro Campus Center to fill out a questionnaire with a list of potential bands. Other research methods included searching music preferences on Facebook.The line-up eventually produced by the planning committee includes the following bands: ska act The Pietasters, indie rock band Minus the Bear, hip-hop group Jedi Mind Tricks and rock group State Radio, who will be headlining.

Juniors and seniors may remember State Radio, led by former Dispatch member Chad Urmston, from 2006's Springfest, when the band performed with rock group Apollo Sunshine and hip-hop and spoken word artist Saul Williams. (Williams in turn headlined January's VOCAL 2008 spoken-word event.)

Last year's Springfest concert featured Toronto rock band Illscarlet, MC Paul?Barman, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, Dr. Octagon and Ozomatli.

Student Events concert director Shira Espo '08 said, "The lineup for Springfest this year has something for everybody. It's going to be a great day."

WBRS news director Joanna Simon '08 echoed Espo's sentiments. "I'm pretty pleased with the Springfest lineup this year," she said. "Even if some of the acts are more 'under the radar,' it seems like there's a diverse group of talent there."

WBRS co-music director Jeremy Karp '10 referred to the lineup as "fantastically diverse" and "sure to thrill everyone."

What is also sure to thrill everyone is the free beer, available to those 21 and older with an ID. Free food and sodas is another draw. Booths hosted by campus clubs will share the Great Lawn with the stage. Last year's club booths featured such activities as "Find the Clit" and?"Throwing Condom Balloons," care of Student Sexuality Information Services. WBRS plans to give away WBRS-themed merchandise, such as pens, as well as a raffle for an as-yet-undecided prize.

The event will be Sunday, April 6 from 1 to 6 p.m. The rain location is Levin?Ballroom.
