It came as no surprise that actress and comedian Amy Poehler is hysterical, whether performing on Saturday Night Live or participating in a conference call with a seemingly endless number of college journalists. Best known for her characters and impersonations on SNL, her roles in Wet Hot American Summer and Mean Girls, and her cameos in Arrested Development-alongside real-life husband Will Artnett-Poehler will be featured in the upcoming movie Blades of Glory, starring Will Ferrell, Arnett and Jon Heder. Blades is about two rival Olympic ice skaters, and for her role, Poehler had to channel her inner Nancy Kerrigan. Incredibly kind to all of the reporters, Poehler answered each question with wit and warmth. In regards to her plans after SNL, she responded: "They involve world peace, stop global warming, make sure that we all just start getting along. They involve building a robot that can create food out of its stomach. They involve finding a way for dogs and cats to get along. They involve opening a UCB Theatre on the moon and building a rocket ship in my basement."

When asked what cast member from past seasons of SNL she would most like to work with, Poehler answered thoughtfully: "I would have to say that the first person that comes into my head is Phil Hartman."

Responding to a question as to whether she saw herself as a Nancy Kerrigan or a Tonya Harding, Poehler surprisingly delivered a serious answer.

"You know what?" she answered without skipping a beat, "I based my character more on, like, a great Bond villain. Nancy Kerrigan is actually in the movie. This is a little-known fact, but my hometown of Burlington, Mass., is home of the Carruthers, which you're probably too young to remember them, Rachel, but in, like, the '84 Olympics-I forget which Olympics. Guys listening, do your fact checking-but the Carruthers were a brother/sister ice skating team from my hometown that won the silver in pairs in the Olympics."

After a moment, she added, "So I like to think that I'm going to try to represent those people who spent their whole lives working at their craft by pretending to do it for two hours in a movie."

She also spoke about her relationship with former co-star Tina Faye on the possibility of acting on her show spawned from SNL, 30 Rock.

"Well I don't think Tina needs me on that show. I love that show. And, in fact, Tina and I are going to be making a movie together this summer called Baby Mama that I'm very excited about. So I love that show, and I watch it all the time, and I think she's brilliant on it, and I'm so psyched for her, but right now, I'm focusing on the show that I'm actually on."

Blades of Glory opens March 30, and SNL airs Saturdays at 11:30 pm on NBC.
