Bagel chain to replace Java City
The Java City Cafe in the Shapiro Campus Center will be replaced by Einstein Bros. Bagels in about a month, said Head of University Services Mark Collins. Einstein Bros. has an ongoing corporate relationship with the University's food service provider Aramark, Bennett said, adding that Einstein Bros. will bring its core menu and all of its services to the University.Bennett said she wishes to see the Einstein Bros. continue to provide the level of service Java City has offered.
"I certainly hope that we maintain our late night hours and some really wonderful employees who work hard to provide good service to the institution," said Bennett.
The change from Java City to Einstein Bros. was supposed to have happened by the end of the summer, but the project ran into equipment snags, Associate Vice President of University Services Mark Collins said.
Collins said the move was a good decision, mainly because a lot of people did not like the coffee at Java City.
Despite the move, student jobs will remain intact, Collins said.
The Einstein Bros. corporate office could not be reached for comment Monday afternoon.
