4/02/05, 9:15 p.m.-Shortly before the show began, Bad Grammer, False Advertising and To Be Announced gathered Saturday in an empty Cholmondley's carrying sleeping bags, blankets and food, and sporting their respective improv troupe shirts and pajamas. Chum's seemed like it might at 5 a.m.-with the audience largely composed of the members of the participating groups.
The Improvathon kicked off with members of all three groups onstage, counting down to the start of the first hour. We started with "Sex and the City Mystery Science Theater 3000," which found members of each group dubbing their voices over a couple of Sex and the City episodes.11:17 p.m.-We're about halfway through our first section of the "Theater Sports" double hour and the crowd has finally arrived. So far, everyone seems pretty energetic, but it's still early.

4/3/05, 2:28 a.m... or is it 3:28 a.m.?-False Ad is now about halfway through their set and the audience has shrunk to the size it was during the Improvathon's first hour. Around midnight, Chum's was packed densely. Shortly thereafter, during Bad Grammar's set, we officially passed $500 in ticket sales. This was huge for the Improvathon-we managed to raise a ton of money for the Oxfam America Collegiate Click Drive. Even with almost 18 hours to go, the show already seems a success.
As far as us performers go, we're sticking it out. While False Ad is performing, others are chugging energy drinks, munching on snacks and even doing some homework on the side. Grogginess has yet to set in, but the idea of staying here for another 18 hours seems daunting.

7:21 a.m.-We've been going for nine hours straight and the place is a bit of a mess. Some jokes are completely incoherent and the only people left in Chum's are the performers and those few hardcore fans that have been here since the beginning. Everyone is in their pajamas (including the sophomores currently onstage), people are sprawled out across the trash-covered floor and junk food wrappers and empty cans of Red Bull line the windowsills.
The show goes on, but it seems more like a sleepover, especially during the "Slumber Party Hour," which featured a spin-the-bottle game to determine who would perform which games.

12:45 p.m.-I'm too tired to be funny, but not tired enough to fall asleep. I closed my eyes for a moment and the next thing I knew, a little child jumped on the mattress I happened to have passed out on. He's here for "Children's Story Hour" and is providing more entertainment to the small crowd than I could hope to given my current state.
The nicer the weather is outside, the more claustrophobic I feel. I can see the Boston skyline through the window as the sun beats down on my face, but I can barely move. This is like being imprisoned in a funny farm.
An impromptu dance party has now broken out to entertain our young friends, and Chum's modest crowd is on their feet and dancing to Jamiroquai and Hot Hot Heat. Only nine hours left...

6:48 p.m.-About halfway through performing during the "Movie: The Movie" hour, a nauseous feeling hit the pit of my stomach.
Sometime in the early afternoon, I passed out in an uncomfortable position on one of the couches. I continued to wake up and subsequently pass out for the next hour and a half, sleeping in every position possible. It didn't matter too much: I could no longer feel my own face. I woke blurry-eyed around 4 p.m. and downed a Red Bull. I finally found my second wind. Too bad it only lasted two hours.
We've now made over 600 bucks and we're finishing up the "Movie" hour.

10:15 p.m.-The first 24-hour Improvathon at Brandeis University is complete, and I'm as tired and sleep deprived as ever. The lack of sleep had taken its toll, but it didn't matter. The crowd was back for the final hours and laughing as hard as ever. We finished off with our grand finale-a big dance party with every improv group onstage, celebrating the end of 24 hours of improv. Despite our weakened states of mind, we were jumping up and down with joy. Our Iron Man had ended, and we had raised over $700 for Oxfam. As we said at the end of the show: "24 hours down, 24 hours awesome!
