Michele Rosenthal, dean of classes '07 and '08, spoke to the Senate on likely changes to be made by the Committee on Academic Standing. The potential policy will reduce the charge of "academic warning" to a student alert, which carries a non-punitive notation.Two representatives from the UCC addressed the Senate on the revised theater major, which is meant to make the program more interdisciplinary.

Treasurer Aaron Gaynor '07 discussed the possible allocation of next year's Senate discretionary funds towards Brandeis apparel, the proceeds of which would support the upkeep of the game room.

The Senate debated the merits of an amendment introduced to ensure the confidentiality of Senate proceedings. Members who disclose subjects labeled as confidential will be subject to impeachment. The amendment was tabled until next week.

Other tabled by-laws involved committee construction and the creation of a position involving social justice issues.

Up the Beanstalk, a group that produces intercollegiate publication for students interested in writing for children, was chartered.

The Oenology Club requested $100 for its wine tasting event. The Senate amended the request to a loan, which passed.

After much debate, the Senate granted $400 to the Tay-Sachs Disease and Canavan Disease Genetic Screening Project.

Rather Be Giraffes requested $2,050 for help in producing a CD. The request was debated but did not pass.

A money request for the freshman/sophomore informal was tabled to next week due to uncertainty as to the exact amount requested.
