The Judges had some strong individual performances in both the Terrier Classic at Boston University and the Southern Maine Co-Ed Invitational at the University of Southern Maine last weekend, but failed to do well in team competition because of injuries and elite competition at the Terrier Classic."It's one of the best meets in the nation," captain Remy Coyle '07 said. "People come from all over to qualify for other meets because it's such a fast track. There was a lot of competition so we tried to each work on one individual event."

The men's team finished in sixth place Maine on Saturday, a disappointing showing according to Jeff Fauchet '08.

"I thought the meet was OK, Fauchet said. "We could have done a lot better as a team, but there were a lot of injuries."

Despite the low finish, Machel Charles '07 ran the best race of the day for the Judges in his first official meet of the year.

Charles finished the 400-meter dash in 51.21 seconds, coming in second place. Jon Hamilton '08 finished fifth in the 400-meter dash as well, posting a time of 53.29 seconds. Dan Suher chipped in with a second-place finish in the 800-meter run.

Frank Longo '08 placed third in the 55-meter hurdles and finished sixth in the high-jump with a height of five-feet-8.25 inches. Longo was the only Brandeis representative to finish in the top six in two events.

Facing elite competition the day before, the Judges had outstanding individual performances Friday in the Terrier Classic.

Joel Sunshine '07 and Aaron Skolnik '04 finished seventh and ninth respectively in the one-mile run, while Ryan Parker '05 came up big in the 800-meter championship. Parker came in 10th place out of 37 runners, recording a personal best time of 1:53.01.

Jane Farrell '05 turned in the best performance of the day for the Judges, coming in fourth place in the pole vault. Farrell and Olivia Alford '08 finished 21st and 22nd in the 400-meter run. Adie Sprague '08 ran a personal best 9:40.5 in the 55-meter hurdles, coming in 22nd place.

"Overall, we had some outstanding performances from some of the Brandeis athletes," Coach Mark Reytblat said.

The men and women's next meet is Wednesday when the Judges compete in the Greater Boston Championships at 10 a.m. The Greater Boston Championships continue Saturday at 10 a.m.
