Miriam Sievers '06 and Mitali Kamdar '06 were sworn in as senators this week .The Brandeis Labor Coalition asked to act as a resource to the Student Union and to become a part of Workers' Rights Consortium, which advocates against sweat shop labor on and off campus.

Estee Fleishmann was confirmed as non-senate chair of diversity committee.

This week, Rachel Kruger '07 spoke on behalf of the Hillel First-Year Council that plans retreats and functions for first-years in a Jewish setting. They were chartered.

The African and African-American publication Okapi requested recognition. Studying cultural, economic and political issues in Africa, the magazine was recognized. [See related story, p. 6]

The History Club, whose goal it is to promote historical awareness and to host re-enactments of famous historical events, was chartered.

The Bratwurst Club, which serves to promote German culture on campus, was chartered.

Mock Trial requested money to fund accommodations for their trip to their competition. They received $680 from the Senate.

ZaHaV was granted $600 for hosting Walid Shoebat, a former Palestinian terrorist who moved to the U.S., embraced Christianity and renounced his past.

Triskelion requested money for hosting its annual GLBT dance and was tabled.

Students for a Just Society requested money for educational projects and social events. Their request was tabled.
