The Senior Stein Night was a great way to kick off the February break. Sponsored by the Senior Spirit Club, the Class of 2004 Committee, the Future Alumni of Brandeis (FAB), the Senior Class Gift and Assistant Dean of Student Life Alwina Bennett, the event was a bonding opportunity for the soon to graduate seniors. Featuring raffles with prizes-including tickets to Junior-Senior Formal and extra graduation tickets-this Stein Night had many added incentives to come.
Within minutes, the Stein went from being practically empty to standing room only. The night began with DJ Zach Goldberg '04 playing popular tunes by Smash Mouth, the Dave Matthews Band, Guster, The Counting Crows and many others. Soon after, Honkyphonic, a band of Zack Meyers '04 on guitar, Doug Van Hollen '04 on keys, vocalist Aaron Neily, Matt J. Niedzwiecki '07 on bass, and Aaron Moulin (GRAD) and Zack Goldman '07 on drums, took the stage. Honkyphonic had a jazzy feel that fit the Stein Night very well. The band dressed up in wigs, fur coats, hats and sunglasses for added effect. Their range of music was very broad, and although I did not know any of the songs they performed, the performance was enjoyable.
After Honkyphonic finished, a huge screen was placed in the center of the room. With music in the background, weird video clips ensued. At this point, I became increasingly confused and the room became too crowded to even stand up. The rest of the night consisted of viewing the projection screen and listening to music, a disappointing change of pace from the engaging performance of Honkyphonic.

Although it became a little claustrophobic and less exciting toward the end, this Stein Night was clearly a lot of fun for the seniors and a great way for them to spend a night bonding . The evening had a pleasant feel and good music. Overall, it was a worthwhile and entertaining event.
