Club Resource Center opens with ceremony
On Monday at 9:00 p.m. the Student Union officially opened the new Club Resource Center (CRC). The event included a special "meet and greet" session, where students had the opportunity to meet and talk with their class representatives and discuss issues with them. Over one hundred people showed up during the evening and class representatives and students alike gained by getting to know each other better.
The CRC is located on the third floor Shapiro Campus Center, next to the Student Union offices in the Romper room. The event was organized by Club Resource Coordinator Alyssa Krop '04 and by the Director of Public Affairs and Communications for the Student Union Nicole Karlebach '04. The highlight of the program was the ribbon-cutting ceremony The CRC room was designed to meet the needs of the community, specifically for the use of clubs, and includes numerous computers with the necessary software tools to accommodate the needs of organizations on campus, from web browsing capabilities to photo and film editing software to slide show and layout software.
Student Union Secretary Danny Silverman, '05 worked to get all of the computers and other equipment into the room setup and working with all of the necessary software.
The CRC will be open at least during the same times as the Student Union office is open, which is Monday through Thursday, 10-6 p.m., and Friday 10-3 p.m. There is also hope that it will be open for longer hours, even when the Student Union office is not open.
According to Krop and Karlebach, the Romper room has always been a place for clubs to go to convene, but the room now displays how much more is now available.
Krop said, "this is your center. Come use it.
