Foster Apartment Senator Ravi Chugani '03 and Class of 2003 Senator Aziz Nekoukar have announce the "successful" connection of the newest emergency call box. It is the first call box placed in the quad and according to Marci Surkes '03, Executive Board communications director "This is a significant advance toward increasing campus safety." "The Foster Mod Apartments were, until this week, the only residential quad on campus not equipped with an emergency call box (or blue light)," she said. "Chugani and Nekoukar (a resident of the quad) have been working with the Director of Public Safety, Ed Callahan for several months to ensure that such a call box be installed."

Surkes said she believes that campus call boxes are a vital tool for student protection on campus, and the installation of the box in the Mods was "imperative."

She said that the senators lobbied for this advance and were met with full cooperation from the Department of Public Safety.

"Brandeis students should feel comfortable and safe no matter where they are on campus," she said. "If a student feels that there is an area of campus not adequately serviced by call boxes, he or she should contact their senate representative immediately.
