Union Secretary candidate Danny Silverman '05 was disqualified from the race after Student Union elections commissioners were alerted by another candidate that Silverman's campaign statement and link appeared on boogle.agblog.com. Silverman has challenged the decision in the Union Judiciary (UJ)."The elections commissioners determined that the statement was not hosted on unet.brandeis.edu or a free equivalent," stated election commissioners Aziz Nekoukar '03, Eszter Lengyel '04, Gregg M. Leppo '03 and Ana Yoselin Bugallo '03 stated.

Election commissioners charged that Silverman's action is a violation of the campaign rule that states: "Only host your page on the space provided to you through your Brandeis University UNET account or free services accessible to all Union members."

Silverman responded by stating that the endorsement was "certified by the election commissioners." He further showed that boogle.agblog.com is operated by the Computer Operators Group, which endorsed his candidacy within election campaign guidelines. He added that the rules state a club "may use any resources available" to support his candidacy.

The election commissioners said: "Regardless of who owns the web page, it is not free, nor is it hosted on a free site. Although the elections commissioners may not have the right to ask a club to avoid using all its financial resources, a candidate is bound by these rules and is responsible for his or her supporters as well as their actions."

Silverman has requested that the election commissioners not remove his name from the ballot until the UJ rules on the appeal.
