This past week at Brandeis, a vote took place. Included on the ballot were an amendment to the Student Union Constitution, a discussion of sentiments on the war in Iraq, a vote for a Union Judiciary position and the Senator for Racial Minority Students.Jaime Koff '03 was elected to the Union Judiciary. Koff defeated Avner Fink '04 in the final round of elections. Koff received 452 votes, while Fink received 203. Sixty-seven students chose to abstain.

Nicole Amarteifio '04 was elected Senator for Racial Minority Students. She defeated Asavari Kamerkar '03, with 101 votes to Kamerker's 60.

"The amendment (which passed) proposed that UJ and A-board (Allocations Board) elections be switched," Student Union Secretary Ana Yoselin Bugallo said. The amendment allows the Allocations Board more time to begin planning for marathon. "The previous system left them with little over a week to gather, discuss, train and prepare for marathon. With this new order of voting, they will have much more time," Bugallo said.
