Men gain vital victories

Something about Becker College brings out the best in guard Derek Retos '14. Retos scored 23 points-18 in the second half-to lead the Judges to a 77-62 road victory against Becker on Saturday.


Men's Basketball: Squad falls short in its first road loss

The men's basketball team opened its season with a late-game surge against host Rhode Island College last Saturday but fell just short in what proved to be a 48-46 loss. Despite the loss, and playing without guard Jay Freeman '13 and forward Alex Schmidt '14, the team showed glimpses of its potential throughout the game. While the Judges attempted to take control in the first half, the Anchormen held Brandeis' high-powered offense at bay, limiting the squad to 20 points.


Volleyball: Team emerges victorious in a regional classic

With University Athleitc Association competition looming in the near future, the women's volleyball team was able to gain some valuable experience at the Hall of Fame Invitational at Smith College last weekend, winning two of three matches. The wins improved their record to 16-11 and 1-6 in the UAA. In the UAA Round Robin II at Carnegie Mellon University two weekends ago, the Judges finally broke through and won their first-ever UAA match, defeating New York University in straight sets.


Volleyball: Women start off on a high note

The women's volleyball team made the most out of its home court advantage last week. Brandeis earned three out of four wins at the Brandeis Invitational against Rhode Island College, McDaniel College and Babson College last weekend.


Volleyball: Team seeks to improve results with experience

After a promising 7-2 start to the 2011 season, the women's volleyball team looked to move past their 2010 season woes in a chase for the University Athletic Association title. The Judges won the first set against Colby-Sawyer College by a score of 25-17 last September 18, but then struggled to stay in the match and eventually fell 16-14 in the fifth and conclusive set.
